He defeated World Number two Novak Djokovik in the final by 6-0,7-6. This is the fifth time Roger Federer has won this tournament. He also won this tournament in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2010. He also equals the record of Rafael Nadal of winning 21 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments. Defending Champion Andy Murray lost in the third round to Jeremy Chardy. The women's singles title goes to Chinese player Li Na who defeated German player Angelique Kerber by 1-6,6-3,6-1 in the final.

In men's doubles, the pair of Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau defeated Bhupathi-Bopanna by a score of 6-4,6-4 in the final.
