Talent, skillor hard work makes a great sportsman


when you see a group of kids playing a game you notice a kid who is exceptionally talented and stands out in the crowd .The kid learns all skills of the game as time progresses but is it enough.In course of time the kid may rely too much on talent and will not work hard to acquire the skills ,even if it does so may not work hard enough to attain perfection .SO the essence of succes is the combination of all the three.

An interschool match scored 664 runs for the opening wicket and created a world record. VI nod Kambli scored 348 and sachin scored 326.
23 years later, sachin Tendulkar today, is a legend and the god of cricket. But where is vinod kambli? Observers say that both of them were equally talented but sachin was more focused and hardworking .When you see a master piece of art or a marvelous musical performance or a school kid who stands out amongst his schoolmates, you see talent. You will be tempted to say looking at the end result that creator is talented and gifted forgetting the effort behind it. Talent is an innate ability you see in people whereas skill is an art developed through practice.
If you are thinking that you can succeed on talent alone then ask a talented writer who could not complete his book or a painter who did not finish his work or an athlete who missed too many practice sessions ,they will tell you 'talent is nothing if you don't sweat it out .
A person who is talented but not hardworking will not succeed where as another person who is not gifted with natural attributes and is moderately talented will succeed if he has the zeal and is hardworking. It reminds us of the story of the hare and the tortoise.
The statement that the secret of success is talent is a myth. Talent is grossly overrated; it can only take you to a point.
Research shows that lack of talent is irreverent to great success .In fact you can create talent with hard work. So what is the 'mantra' of success in any field, I can say with conviction that it is talent +skill+ opportunity + passion +hard work =success.
When we see a Roger Federer caressing a forehand cross court for a winner or a Tiger Woods launch a 350 yard drive effortlessly or Diego Mara Dona beating 3 defenders and to say that they are talented is ridiculous considering that they have maximized talent with hard work.
Similarly when you watch a child prodigy perform you will call the child as 'god gifted 'but have you taken the pain to find out how much effort the person would put up with even before reaching adolescence.
In short the recipe for success is hard work, repetition of skills and focused mindset.

The famous pianist Vladimir Horowitz made a beautiful statement ''when I don't practice for a day I know it ,when I don't practice for 2 days my wife knows it and when I don't practice for more than 3 days the whole world knows it.
Swimmer Liz Johnson is a Paralympic gold medalist .She was born with cerebral palsy, which meant only one side of her brain would function and control one side of her body. She started to swim when she was only 3 and how she became a champion was that the functioning side of her brain had adapted to make both sides of her body to function through repetition and practice.
Once an obese person walked in to a clinic the doctor told him ''look you have to work hard or you will be in trouble. '' 'what should I do doctor? You have to walk at least 5 km for 60 days''. After 60 days the patient rang up the doctor and the doctor inquired ''how are you? .Have you lost weight? Yes doctor but I am 300 km away, when do I return home?
Lazy people avoid hard work saying ''hard work never killed anybody but why take a chance''.
Hard work is not just digging a trench or cutting a tree or loading a truck, it can also be hard work when you have to come out of deep rooted negativity like habits, negative thinking and procrastination.
If you ask Mr. Amitabh Bachchan about hard work he would say' 'ladies and gentleman nothing in this world was ever achieved without pain ,sweat , blood and tears .
