ICC ODI Rankings: India on 2nd Position after 4-1 win against Sri Lanka in 5th ODI Series


Indian ODI team is now on No.2 in the ICC ODI Rankings after defeating Sri Lanka by 4-1 in the 5th ODI series held in Sri Lanka. Virat Kohli become the Player of the series. Read this article for more information about this series.

After winning the fifth and last ODI of the five match series against Sri Lanka, India not only won the series by 4-1 but also it improves its ranking to number two in ICC ODI Ranking. India won all the matches except the second ODI where India's batsman failed to deliver. Virat Kohli won the Player of the series award for making 296 runs with an average of 74.00 which includes two centuries. He was also the top run-getter in 5th ODI series followed by his team-mate Gautam Gambhir who scores 258 runs in the series with an impressive average of 51.60 which includes one century and two half centuries. Kumar Sangakara is the leading run-scorer from Sri Lankan side with 206 runs. Irfan Pathan, Perera and Lasith Malinga all three took 8 wickets each in this series. However Irfan's average (26.37) is much better than Malinga (31.25) and Perera (35.50).

Great comeback by Irfan Pathan and Rohit's failure


Irfan Pathan made a great comeback in this series. He was the top bowler in the series with eight wickets. In the fifth and last ODI he take his second five-wicket haul in ODIs. His performance with bat was also appreciable. He played two important innings which helps India in scoring good total on the scoreboard. On the other hand Rohit Sharma was the biggest failure of the series for India. He only managed 13 runs in five innings. His chances of remaining in the side are reduced after the good performances of Manoj Tiwari in the last two ODI's who is competing with Rohit for the No. 4 spot in the Indian batting line-up.
