The auction of the IPL 5 have been completed. Indian all rounder Ravindra Jadeja became the richest player to be sold out. Chennai Superkings flooded the maximum amount a franchisee can spend. Jadeja was sold to CSK for $2 million. (Rs.10 crore). Chennai could buy no more player. New Zealander Brendon Mucullum was the first player to be auctioned. He was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for $9,00,000. Ravindra Jadeja was the next in queue. Teams bid for him with all strength. At last in tie breaker, he was sold to Chennai Super Kings for $ 2 million. Jadeja had a base price of $1,00,000.

Surprisingly, many of English players could not find anyone to buy them. James Anderson, Graeme Swan and Ian Bell all went unsold. Many others also went unsold.
There were 144 players from 11 countries signed for the aution. 136 out of these were foreign players. But only 29 places were vacant and 107 foreign players had to be unsold. Since the application of rule changes, now each team can have 11 foreign players in their squad instead of an earlier tally of 9 and each team can have maximum of 33 players instead of former 30. But there is no change in the rule that only 4 foriegn players can be included in the playing eleven. The exit of Kochi Tuskers from IPL was the reason to raise the tally of foreign players. Most of the players signed for auction were from Australia, 32. South Africa had 30 representatives. 19 players were from Sri Lanka and West Indies each. England -15, New Zealand -10, Zimbabwe -7 these are other main nations.

Each team was allowed to spend 2 million dollars for the auction. But since a few teams had a few signed players in line up such as Royal Challengers' Chris Gayle and Pune Warriors' Sourav Ganguly, their tally got reduced. Pune Warriors had 1.6 millions in bag while Royal Challenger Bangalore had a sum of 1.44 million dollars. Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers had 2 million and King XI Punjab had 1.9 million dollars.
