Argentinian forward Hernan Crespo became the richest player in the forthcoming Indian Premier League Soccer as he was bought for a whopping price of Rs. 4.18 crores in the auction held on monday.

Crespo was bought by the Barasat franchise of Premier League Soccer, which is scheduled from February 25 to April 8 in West Bengal. Crespo was sold for his base price. He was also the player with the highest base price.
The world cup winning Italian captain Fabio Cannavaro is the second costliest player on the list. Cannavaro, who had a base price of Rs. 3.88 crore, was sold to Siliguri for Rs. 4.13 crore. The agreements are for a span of one year. The auction of foriegn players and coaches was completed on Monday. The auction of Indian players will be held soon.

There were 5 icon players in the auction. Robert Pires of France, England's Robbie Fowler and Nigerian Jay-Jay Okocha were the players apart from Cannavaro and Crespo. Pires was bought for Rs. 4 crore (base price: 3.5 c) by Howrah. Foller was sold to Kolkata for Rs. 2.64 c (bp: 2.25 c) and Okocha was sold to Durgapur for the base price of Rs. 2.75 crore.
More than 30 players were auctioned. Kolkata bought Nigerian Robert Egbeta (1.75 c), Costa Rican Daniel Valera (60 lakhs) and South Korean forward Park Ji Sung (70 lakhs).

Bolivian Jose Gabriel Rios (90 lk), Diego Madregal of Costa Rica (60 lk) and Byun Yun Chul of South Korea were bought by Howrah. Siliguri grabbed American Santino Quaranta (90 lk), Bolivian Limberg Guittires (90 lk) and South Korean Huang Gu Huan (45 lk).

Durgapur bought Costa Rican Antonio Soles (1 crore), Guatemalan Jose Castillo (40 lk) and South Korean Kim Bong Kyom (57 lk) whereas Bolivian Joaquin Bottero (90 lk), South Korean Park Bong Gyu (45 lk) and Ecuador's Christian Lara (1 c) went to Barasat as well.

Portugese coach Fernando Couto grabbed the highest price for a coach. He was bought by Howra for Rs. 1.2 crores. Former Manchester City coach and Englishman Peter Reid was bought by Kolkata for 1 crore. Bolivian coach Marco Etchevvre went to Siliguri (1 c) whereas Durgapur bagged Nigerian Samson Siasi (1.04 c) and Barasat bagged Iceland's Tutor Thordorson (1.04 c) as coaches.
The Premier League Soccor is organised by Celebrity Management Group and West Bengal Football Association together. Howra, Kolkata, Barasat, Durgapur and Siliguri are the participating teams. Each team can own 25 players including a maximum of 3 foriegn players and an Asian. 5 players should be from the home city and there should be 6 under-21 players.
