Biography and Cricket Career of Nari Contractor


Nari Contractor is a left hand batsman and former Indian Test Team Captain. A very good opening batsman, but due to an injury during a match where he was stuck on his skull by the ball while batting and his life was in danger for a time. And after that he never played for India in Test Matches.

Nari Contractor started his Cricket Career by playing in a First Class Cricket by playing for Gujarat Team and got Centuries in the both innings of his debut match. His International Career started in year 1955 when he played against New Zealand in Mumbai. He made his only Test Hundred against Australia in 1959-60.

Later he also become the Captain of the Indian Test Team, at that time he was the youngest Captain from India at the age of 26. It was under his captaincy India win a series against England.
