Sri Lanks and West Indies to face each other in ICC World T20 Final


After defeating Australia in the semi-final West Indies has booked their place in the final of the 2012 ICC World T20. They will now face Sri Lanka in the final tomorrow at Colombo who have defeated Pakistan in the another semi-final match. Know more about this news.

West Indies in the Final of ICC World T20


West Indies team has entered the final of the ICC World T20 tournament after defeating Australia in the second semi-final played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo today. They will now face the host Sri Lanka in the final to be played tomorrow at the same ground. Sri Lanka had already reached the final yesterday after defeating Pakistan in first semi-final of the tournament. Chris Gayle was declared as the Player of the Match.

Gayle destroys Australia


It was Chris Gayle's unbeaten knock of 74 runs in 41 deliveries that sets a big score for West Indies in the semi-final against Australian side. He hits six sixes and five fours in his innings. The contribution of other players was also helpful in making a score of 200 plus. This is also the highest score of this tournament. Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Marlon Samuels also played important knocks for the team. Specially Pollard's 38 off 15 balls were a perfect part at the end of the West Innings. West Indies ended up on 4/205 in their quota of 20 overs. Australian chase was totally depended on the opening pair of Watson and Warner. But both fell early in the chase. Captain Bailey made an aggressive innings but no other batsman stayed on the wicket for long period and the team bowled out in 17th over of their innings. Ravi Rampaul took three wickets for 16 runs while Samuel Badree had a figure of 2/27 in the match.

Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan in low scoring semi-final


Yesterday the host Sri Lanka defeated Pakistani team by 16 runs. Chasing a target of 140, Pakistan were able to score only 123 runs in 20 overs. Three wickets for 25 runs in four overs by spinner Rangana Herath played an important factor in the victory of Sri Lanka. Angelo Mathews and Ajantha Mendis also took two wickets each. But before that Sri Lanka set a competitive target for Pakistan on difficult wicket to bat. Mahela Jayawardene and Dilshan made a good opening partenership.
