ICC T20 World Cup 2012 in Sri Lanka is the first T20 Cricket World Cup tournament in Asian Country which is scheduled to begin on 18th September 2012. The first three tournaments of Twenty20 was held in South Africa, England and in West Indies. As per the schedule of T20 world cup 2012, the international T20 cricket tournament starts from September 18 and ends on October 7, 2012. The first inaugural match of Twenty20 World cup 2012 will be played between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe at Mahinda Rajapaksha International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota. Let's see the World Cup 2012 T20 fixtures to know about participating countries for 2012 world cup Twenty20 tournament this year. This year we have Sri Lanka (hosting nation), India, South Africa, Zimbabwe, West India, Ireland, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and England.
T20 World Cup 2012 format is same as that of the earlier one. There will be 12 teams with 27 matches played for 20 days and the finals of T20 World Cup 2012 will be played at Premdasa Stadium on October 7, 2012. The preliminary round of Twenty20 world cup 2012 will have four groups of three teams each. The top two qualifying teams from each group in the preliminary round will enter Super Eight stage. The top two qualifying teams from the Super Eight will move to the knock-out stage semi-finals and the winners of semi-finals would contest in the finals of ICC T20 World Cup 2012 which will be played at Premdasa Stadium.
