Roger Federer and Serena Williams becomes the winner of Madrid Open 2012

Swiss tennis player Roger Federer has won the Madrid Open 2012 men's singles title by beating Tomas Berdych in the final. In women's singles, Serena Williams easily beats the World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka. After loosing the first set, Federer came back strongly in the second and third set to grab the title. It was the twentieth occasion when Federer has won Masters 1000 title. He also become the second ranked men's singles player after this win. Before the tournament he was third in the men's singles ranking. The score in the final was 3-6,7-5,7-5. The tournament was played on Blue clay and top players like Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovik criticized it a lot.

In Women's singles event Serena Williams beats the World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka easily by 6-1,6-3 in the final. It was the 41st singles title of her career. The two set match lasted only 64 minutes. Serena remained dominant throughout the game as she fired 14 aces in the match as compared to none by the Belarusian player. She also made only three double faults as compared to six by Azarenka.

Doubles


The men's double title at Madrid Open 2012 was won by the pair Mariusz Fyrstenberg/Marcin Matwoski who beats the pair Robert Lindstedt/Horia Tecau by 6-3,6-4. In women's doubles, Sara Errani/Roberta Vinci beats Ekaterina Makarova/Elena Vesnina by 6-1,3-6,10-4.
