Juan Martin del Potro and Kaia Kanepi won singles titles at 2012 Estoril Open

Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina and Kaia Kanepi of Estonia won the Estoril Open singles titles of the year in men's and women's category respectively. Estoril Open, which is an ATP World Tour 250 series tournament of ATP World Tour and WTA World Tour. Juan Martin del Potro defeated French player Richard Gasquet in the men's singles final by 6-4,6-2 while Kaia Kanepi defeated spainish player Carla Suarez Navarro in the women's singles final by 3-6,7-6,6-4. It was the eleventh title win of Martin del Potro in singles and third title win for Kaia Kanepi. JM del Potro is currently ranked tenth in World Ranking and he was also the top seeded player for this tournament.

JM del Potro defeated R Machado by 6-1,6-0 in the second round, Albert Montanes by 6-2,6-2 in the quarter-final, Stanislas Wawrinka by 7-6,6-4 in the semi-final before reaching to the final. Kaia Kanepi was seeded sixth for the tournament in singles. She Sloane Stephens by 6-1,6-1 in the first round, Vania King by 6-3,6-4 in second round, Petra Cetkovska by 6-3,3-6,6-3 in quarter-final and Roberta Vinci by 6-2,7-5 in the semi-final before reaching the final.

Doubles

In men's doubles of the tournament the pair of Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean Julien Roger defeated the pair of Julien Knowle and David Marrero by 7-5,7-5 in the final. In women's doubles, Chuang Chia-jung and Zhang Shuai defeated Yaroslava Shvedova and Galina Voskoboeva in the final by a score of 4-6,6-1,11-9.
