Scott Styris is a New Zealand Cricketer and mostly known for his All-round play in International Cricket. Played mostly in ODI matches, his Test Cricket Career is very limited.

Biography and Career of Scott Styris


Born in Brisbane, Australia, on 10 July 1975, Scott Styris got his education from Hamilton Boys' High School and started his Cricket Career by playing for Auckland and Northern District.

But his International Cricket Career started when he got a chance in an ODI match against India at Rajkot. He picked up 3 Indian Wickets including the one of Sachin Tendulkar. This was just a start of this excellent allrounder. He continuously played well for the New Zealand ODI Team by regularly taking wickets and scoring runs at the middle order of the New Zealand Batting Lineup. And in 2002, he got the chance to make his Test Match debut against West Indies and made a brilliant Century in that match.

Scott was always known for his aggressive batting style and a good medium pace bowling. He continued to play in both ODI and Test Teams despite of many injury problems throughout his career. During Cricket World Cup 2007, he was amongst the leading run scorer of the tournament with 499 runs.

But soon after the World Cup, due to his poor form in Test Cricket, he was dropped from the test team, which later forces him to announce his retirement from Test Cricket and to concentrate more on ODI Cricket, the next year in 2008.

Apart from this, Styris was also the part of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2011 And Deccan Chargers in IPL 2009. He has also played for the three different Teams in County Cricket, in 2005 for Middlesex, in 2006 for Durham and in 2010 for Essex. Now he has announced his retirement from all formats of International Cricket.
