Petra Cetkovska started playing tennis at a very young age of. She loved the sport and kept on playing with inspiration from her parents. She turned professional in the year 2000. Since then she has won 15 ITF singles titles and 16 doubles titles.

 Petra CetkovskaIn the year 2007, she made her first Breakthrough in her WTA rankings. She bagged 3 ITF titles and also won her first WTA doubles title in the ECM Prague Open with Andrea Hlavackova.

She made her grand slam main draw debut in the US Open of 2007, reaching the second round but then being defeated by the 14th seed Elena Dementieva in the second round match.

At the 2008 French Open, she defeated the 23rd seed in the first round and then making a route to the fourth round for the first time in a Grand Slam. However she was beaten by Ana Ivanovic who was the eventual champion.
