Petra Kvitoza beats Sharapova to win Wimbledon Title 2011

The final of the woman’s singles at Wimbledon maybe considered a warm up for the men’s final which is considerably a more interesting game. People had been expecting the previous world champion to make her come back on this match but that didn't work out and Petra Kvitova won over.

Russian Heart- throb Maria Sharapova was challenged by a Czechmate named Petra Kvitova in the final match of the Wimbledon.

Sharapova wins the toss and elects to receive. Nevertheless this 21 year old Petra Kvitova delivered a brilliant performance and won over Maria Sharapova thus snatching away the Wimbledon title for the first time with a great victory of 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday.

Kvitova, had never won a match on grass before the semi finals in 2010. She served really well and gave a powerful competition to her contender and became the third left hander to win the woman's title after Anne Jones and Martina Navratilova.

In her first Grand Slam final, Kvitova kept control of her emotions and even the game and deservedly won the finals. She was the first Czech to triumph since Jana Novotna since 1998.

Sharapova won the title of the Grand Slam in 2004 when she was only 17 years old. She had reached the finals without losing a single game, not even a set and the Russian fifth seed had no answers.

In an on-court interview the tearful champion said, "I'm so happy" blowing a kiss to Novotna and Navratilova who were watching from the Royal Box. She continued, "I was nervous but I had to focus on every point". She was understandably nervous as she lost the opening game but won back immediately to level at 1-1. After that a tough strife went on and Kvitova defeated the former world number one Maria Sharapova.

After the match this 21 year old shy girl, Petra Kvitova told in an interview, "I'm not thinking of myself as a star. I just want to stay and be normal like I am, hopefully". She continued "Hopefully I'm still the same person. Hopefully there will be no change in my life."
